Mrs Jones & Me

Well known local duo Mrs Jones & Me with the talented Erol Richardson on keyboard and mellow tones of vocalist Gail Jones have been performing on the NSW South Coast for the past 4 years bringing life back to early Great American Songbook tunes.

Old favourites of jazz, female blues and a few surprises with arrangements true to the early greats such as:

Frank Sinatra,

Sammi Davis Jnr,

Ella Fitzgerald,

Bessie Smith and

Billie Holiday.

Gail the daughter of a piano tuner started at the family pianola with her father’s coaching, moving on to contemporary gospel as a soloist for a number of local bands in a small coastal community in Victoria, The Bakelite Blues Band in rural Queensland and Tsehaye a three piece with husband Mike and guitarist and fellow vocalist Ross Naidoo.

In her early years Gail was mentored by vocal coach and recording artist Maggie Britton and later through the wonders of modern technology U.S.A based jazz and blues vocalists Ashley Parker and Carolyn Florence.

Erol learned classical and ragtime piano from the age of 9 initially retiring at the age of 14. Other exciting things that kept him away from the keyboard until he resumed at the age of 40.

A well-known fixture in Canberra restaurants and clubs, Erol became music director and pianist for Linda Hansen’s Empress of the Blues Cabaret a show which featured on the TV show Today with Eric Walters.

He has performed with bands Second Time Round, Sarabande, The Jazz Pack, Swings the Thing and now Richo’s Ragtimers.

Erol and Gail form the duo Mrs Jones & Me with a smooth mellow sound to provide a relaxed ambiance and atmosphere for your night out.

Mrs Jones & Me have become regulars at one of the best venues for great food and live music on the coast Bermi’s Beachside Café.
